Best Western Melbourne City Hotel

Room size is just nice for me, perhaps because I’m a petite lady. I have enough space to put luggage, walk around, and also enough tables and cupboard to put my stuff. The toilet is big, but the shower space is very small though. The door to the shower is very narrow. I think it may be very difficult for a normal size adult to squeeze in. Basin is so small that water is easily splashed out if I’m not extremely careful when opening the tap. The rest of the toilet space is very big but I have no idea of the purpose. A bit wasteful and it could be better to allocate more space for showering. It takes time for the hot water to come out. I didn’t know and was inside shivering with the cold water on the first day. After that, I would let the hot water runs for a while before entering. There was water wastage, but it was really too cold for me. Water flow will also be slower suddenly. Room is not soundproof. When people walked along the corridor outside, there will be squeaky sound. Can hear people talking outside too. My room access card failed to work twice and I had to go down to the reception to fix the card. I’m not sure of the security level of the hotel. You don’t need access card to access the lift. The front door is in front of the reception, but there is not have always people there. I saw the back door opened sometimes, and anybody can just sneak in? There is room cleaning everyday upon request, but they didn’t vacuum the floor. Other than this, everything else was fine. No toothbrush and toothpaste are provided. I wasn’t aware and had to call the reception to check before going outside to buy. However, I would still recommend the place because of the location which is very excellent and is in free tram zone. Very near to Southern Cross station and many cafes and eateries. Walkable to some attractions. Price is not cheap but if I compared to other hotels nearby, this is one of the cheapest for solo traveller.

I was totally shocked from the room size as well as the conditions of the hotel itself. I have been to many Best Western, however, this is not BW Standard. I booked the smallest and room category and let me tell you, it is small. Its 8 sqm, very very small bath, small windows towards other buildings and the bed is on wheels, so everytime you sit down, its moves... the walls od the hotel are very thin, therefore noisy. elevators dont work for a week now, you have to take the stff elevator. I planned to stay 4 nights, after few hrs I decided to check out after one night. The one Star is for the staff who made it possible for me to check out and go to antother hotel. Even though its cheap, I recommend to invest a few more dollars and stay at a different hotel or find a hotel with bigger rooms

Location was amazing, rooms were clean and comfortable. We boooked the shoebox room as it was cheaper and found the size to be just what we neede. However, the shower door was so small, really hard for anyone to get in. Both my husband and I struggled. Could be fixed with a different shower door. Is our only complaint though, would stay here again for price and location

Partner and I stayed in room 116 for 12 days. Service was incredible. Rooms were tidy and cleaned daily upon request, staff were extremely friendly and helpful with everything we needed (gave us an extra pillow and blanket no questions asked) and the AC works incredibly well. Great value for money, would absolutely stay here again!
